Ascension Public Schools utilizes Perry Weather for real-time weather information at Griffin Stadium and lightning detection.
The Perry Weather forecast for Saturday, March 18, 2025, is a high of 87 degrees, a low of 71 degrees, and a 50% chance of scattered showers. The latest estimates are light showers may roll into the area in the late afternoon. The stronger weather will be overnight and early Sunday morning.
All Ascension Public Schools events must follow district lightning detection protocols. They are as follows:
WATCH: 10-30 Mile Radius
WARNING: 8-10 Mile Radius
ACTION (Seek Shelter): Lightning Strike within 8 Miles
In the event of a lightning strike within 8 miles, a siren will sound at the stadium. That means all must vacate the bleachers and seek shelter. Please refer to the weather plan map below, which specifies spectators should return to their cars and bands will proceed to the cafeteria or gym.
After 30 minutes of no lightning strikes within 8 miles, the siren will sound 3 times indicating the all-clear and return to the stadium.
The Dutchtown Sound Board Boosters will have photographers covering every band during the event. See the flyer below for opportunities to obtain photos.
